So our engagement pictures had to be rescheduled a few times:) Our first date we had planned, I won the tickets to NYC so obviously I rescheduled. Our next date was the Friday it snowed all day, again we had to reschedule. This Texas gal wasn’t about to freeze her booty! Finally, we were able to take our pictures this past Wednesday. We had such a blast! The weather was cold, but not too bad. Our photographer made us feel so comfortable. Chris’ first response when we were finished was “I can’t see anybody else taking our pictures.” I was so happy.
We wanted the pictures in downtown Houston which is where we actually met, and I lived when we first started dating. We have lots of memories there so I wanted my engagement pictures there.
We started in Discovery Green Park which is a park in the middle of downtown. It was amazing the places in the park that we took our pictures. I think the pictures are going to look like we were in country instead of downtown. We took some pictures in these tall plants that looked like a wheat field (ironic I know), another one this dock they had by this water, and a few in the grass. I was really glad we had a variety of pictures instead of having all city looking pictures.
We changed clothes and headed to the theater district/Rice Hotel. So I called the Rice Hotel (where I lived when Chris and I started dating), and they told me it was going to $1,000 to receive a permit to take pictures in the Rice. Chris and I had so many memories in that place, but I wasn’t about to pay that price! Well, my awesome photographer read my mind and suggested us sneak in there and play dumb if they told us something. We took pictures in there without anybody telling us anything!
One of Chris’ favorite thing about our photographer is that she is a fellow Longhorn. Well, she earned some big bonus points with our next shot! There is this place downtown called the Longhorn Grill. They have this window with a big Longhorn so we took a few pictures with the Longhorn. She took one where we were leaning in kissing and the horns were coming out of Chris’ head. He is super excited about that picture.
The last picture was the a picture with the downtown skyline. I really wanted one of these since it showed we were downtown. Again, our awesome photographer did some research and found a great place was in the parking lot of Sabine Lofts. It was so funny, because we could see the apartments but couldn’t get the lofts. Our patient photographer drove with us for about 20 minutes as we tried to get here in our car. It was so worth the wait, it was a perfect downtown background. It was such a perfect way to end our pictures.
So the pictures should be ready online in about 2 weeks so I’ll keep y’all posted!
